There were eight on today’s six mile morning walk. This was fewer than usual but perhaps the hot weather played a part, though compared with the past few days the temperature (25°C) was, as someone remarked, almost cold.
We started from Hydon’s Heath NT car park, went through Busbridge Wood to Juniper Valley and up a slope (normally a quagmire, but now almost dry) past High Barn to meet the B2130. Here we turned R on a BW then L at a junction to meet the B2130 again and cross over it. At the end of another normally muddy slope (now fairly firm) we turned R and headed for Hascombe to join the Greensand Way. We followed this through The Hurtwood (noting the absence of a sign for the GSW at a junction of paths) past Burgate Hanger to Vann Hill before heading north to Hydon’s Ball where we stopped to admire the view to the south. From here we headed NE downhill to join a BW back to the car park.
There was only one muddy section which, to my surprise, even those wearing boots tried to avoid. Compared with its normal state it wash’t that bad.
