We swapped the peace of the countryside for the hubbub of London today.

Thirty-five (not all G & H Rs) turned up for the eight mile walk. Given the number of walkers and the crowds on the route, the leaders did well not to lose anyone. They took us past Spitalfields Market, along Brick Lane and to Hackney City Farm where we stopped for refreshments and a look around the farm. From here we headed for Regent’s Canal and walked along the towpath (dodging joggers and cyclists) to Victoria Park where we stopped for more refreshment (lunch).

After lunch we continued on the towpath and eventually reached Limehouse Basin and the Thames. Turning west we walked to and through Wapping to St Katharine Docks and ended the walk outside the Tower of London.
