Gibbet Hill

Gibbet Hill

There was a good turnout on this walk. The warm, sunny, dry weather could have played a part. Twenty-nine met at the recreation ground in Thursley and headed via Smallbrook, Haybarn, Hedge Farm and Little Cowdray Farm to the byway that led to the site of the old A3. Here we stopped for coffee and admired the view of the Devil’s Punch Bowl. Continuing on the byway we reached Gibbet Hill and then made our way to the NT cafe in Hindhead where we stopped for lunch.

After lunch we headed north on the ridge of Highcomb Copse then branched left to reach a bridleway that led to a byway near Pitch Place Farm. At the road we turned left then right to enter Hankley Common and headed NE on tracks and bridleways back to Thursley.
