Today’s walk was a test of the waterproofing of our clothes and boots. It was also a test of the breathability of our jackets. Judging by the comments at lunchtime in the pub, most failed. Jackets that kept rain out also kept sweat in.
Eighteen of us met at the car park by Hesworth Common near Fittleworth and completed the circuit described on October 15. As we crossed a field after lunch we had to pause while a flock of sheep in the field suddenly decided to move to another one and rushed across in front of us, some leaping in the air to avoid brambles.
