Millmead Lock

Work at Millmead Lock

We were fortunate. Rain held off until we arrived back at the car park to head home after this morning’s 4.7 mile walk. Fourteen of us met at Artington Park & Ride and walked along the towing path to Guildford where we joined the Guildford Historic Trail. Free copies of a leaflet about this are available from the Tourist Information Centre on the High Street.

At Millmead Lock there was unusual activity; the lock gates were being replaced. The Facebook page covering this part of the river has photographs of the work. For a brief history of the area have a look at Wey Valley website.
