Parking problems

Most of our walks start from a public car park. Someone commented recently that she’d been given a ticket for parking on a grass verge by double yellow lines. This had surprised her as her car was not causing an obstruction. However, her parking was illegal. At the back of The Highway Code is a section about Road Markings. Under a subheading Along the edge of the carriageway: Waiting restrictions indicated by yellow lines apply to the carriageway, pavement and verge.

Now you know.
