We had a short walk this morning to start the Festival of Winter Walks. The meeting place was the car park off the A3100 by Broadwater Park. Thirteen arrived for the 4.5 mile walk at the scheduled time of 11am. Two others arrived at our usual time of 10am and wondered where everyone was. We met them later on their way back from the walk they did on their own.

We headed for the River Wey Navigation and walked north along the towing path and turned right over the bridge on Tilthams Corner Road. From this we took a footpath that passed by the scenic sewage works to reach Gosden Common where we crossed, after a long wait for a gap in traffic, the A281. On the other side was a recreation ground with a sports pavilion on which was attached a plaque commemorating an early cricket match.

Continuing east we joined the Wey South Path and headed NW to cross, with ease this time, the A281 and reached the River Wey Navigation again. Here we turned left and headed south towards Godalming. Twelve of us stopped at The Manor Inn for drinks.
