Yesterday was our annual new year lunch. This was preceded by a four mile walk. Thirty-two arrived for the walk; ninety arrived for the meal. The weather, the food and the organisation were good.

The walkers met at The Clockhouse in Milford, the venue of the meal. They crossed the A283 and headed for Rodborough Common along Lower Mousehill Lane and over the A3. Here the group divided into two and each went in opposite directions around the common. They met at a pile of logs by the viewpoint for a short break. It was too cold to linger.

A few left after the walk; most stayed for the meal. It was unusual to see each other dressed smartly without muddy boots and anoraks. Our barman impressed all with his white shirt, black waistcoat and red bowtie.
