Marching in sunshine

Marching in sunshine

We set off in winter and returned in spring. The morning started cold and grey but by mid-morning the clouds cleared, the sun came out and the temperature increased. There was a variety of mud on the route. Some stuck to boots, some coated boots and some was a mixture of both.

Twenty-seven turned up for this morning’s walk which started opposite The Withies Inn in Compton. We marched along Polsted Lane and continued uphill to cross the North Downs Way and reach the top at Sunnydown. Here we turned east and walked along the ridge on the northern side to near Henley Fort where we crossed to the other side and turned west past the masts to reach a footpath that led south to the NDW. We turned left (east). At the junction with Stakescorner Road we turned south on this and near Littleton took the footpath on the right (west) that led past Loseley Park. At Polsted Manor we reached Polsted Lane and returned on this road to our cars.
