Seventeen of us arrived for today’s ten mile walk which started from The Grange car park in Midhurst. It was a cold, grey and damp morning. However, two hours later the sun had came out and by lunchtime it was warm enough to sit outside the pub to eat. There was plenty of mud on the route; by the end of it we were liberally splattered with it.
We set off across Midhurst Common and headed south across water-logged fields to Bepton where we stopped at the church for coffee. From here we continued on to Cocking via Henley Lane. After lunch we returned to Midhurst via Hoe Copse, Heyshott Green, Dunfold House and West Lavington. Half a mile after Dunfold House we paused at the Obelisk, a memorial to Richard Cobden, for further refreshment.
