Birdham circular

There was good weather for today’s repeat 8½ mile walk from Birdham near Chichester. Five weeks ago on the first walk there had been such heavy rain that when the group stopped for coffee several abandoned the walk and took a bus back to the car park. Today, after a cool start, the temperature gradually increased; by lunchtime it was warm enough for shorts and shirts.

We (21) met at the car park by Birdham church and headed west on minor roads and footpaths towards West Itchenor and stopped briefly for refreshment by the pond and nature reserve before continuing on to West Wittering where we stopped for longer by a small café. From here we headed north and joined the coastal footpath that took us to West Itchenor, our stop for lunch.

After lunch we headed back to the car park and reached it in less than an hour.
