Coffee on Chinthurst Hill

It was surprisingly cold when we met in the car park at Blackheath for the start of today’s nine mile walk. We rolled down our sleeves and put on our anoraks. Those who wore shorts looked brave but by lunchtime the sun had come out and the temperature had increased.

There were fifteen on the walk. We set off for the Downs Link on a footpath lined with neck-high bracken and headed for Chinthurst Hill. At the top we stopped for coffee. After this we joined the Wey South Path and continued to the junction with the Greensand Way. Here we turned left on the GSW and stayed on this to Shamley Green, our stop for lunch.

Our return to Blackheath was via the GSW, Woodhill Lane, Reelhall Hill, Green Lane, Darbyn’s Brook, Hallam’s Farm and Littleford Lane.
