Elstead circular

We saw more wild life today than we usually do. Perhaps that was because we made less noise than usual.

The five mile walk was from the Moat car park near Elstead. Our leader took us on bridleways across Thursley Common, Ockley Common, Royal Common, Guinea Common and back over Elstead Common without getting lost. The first creature of interest we saw was an adder on the footpath. Someone spotted it before the rest of the group trod on it.

The next creatures we came across were dozens of tiny frogs hopping down a slope to the pond on Royal Common. They were the size of flies so some might have ended up under our boots before we realised what they were.

On one of the boardwalks we encountered three small lizards motionless on the edge. They stayed put as we marched past.
