Petworth circular

There were eleven on today’s ten mile walk from Petworth town.

We set off from the car park and headed NE uphill on a footpath across fields to Brinkshole Heath. Reaching Kingspit Lane we turned left and walked along the road to Flexham Park. Here we took a footpath SE to Riverhill where we stopped for coffee. There was a good view of the South Downs.

We continued to Little Bognor, turned east for Amen, walked through Sellings to Churchwood, joined a minor road and crossed the A283 to reach Fittleworth Common and then took a footpath to Street Farm and Lower Fittleworth. Turning right on the B2138 we passed the pub, turned left and then right on a footpath that took us to Hesworth Common. Here we stopped for lunch in a clearing with a good view of the South Downs.

The route after lunch back to Petworth was via Hesworth Farm, High Hoes, Haslingbourne, Sheep Downs and Grove Lane.
