Heavy rain earlier in the day didn’t deter the sixteen who joined the leader for this morning’s five mile walk.
We met at the car park by Lower Puttenham Common (The Tarn). Most wore waterproof jackets and some, taking no chances, wore waterproof trousers. This, as it turned out, was prudent; rain started after we’d walked about a mile. It gradually increased and was accompanied by a few claps of thunder. We stopped for coffee under trees but the rain was so heavy that these provided little shelter. When the leader suggested that she shortened the walk, there were no dissenters. We reached the car park about noon and escaped from the area before puddles at the sides of the minor roads met in the middle and hid the potholes.
