Fly-tipping

Fly-tipping on a byway

Rain was forecast for late afternoon. We walked briskly and completed the ten mile walk in 4½ hours which included 1¼ hour stoppage time (coffee break and lunch). The rain started about an hour later.

There were fifteen on the walk. We met at the NT car park on Ranmore Common Road and set off heading north across Ranmore Common. We passed the youth hostel, joined a bridleway that led to Polesden Road, turned right and continued on a byway. After Roastinghouse Farm we turned right on a footpath and continued on a bridleway which crossed Fetcham Downs, passed Norbury Park and reached the A24. We crossed the dual carriageway and carried on uphill to the church where we stopped for lunch.

After lunch we headed west on a footpath past Box Hill School, crossed a field and then the A24, turned south and joined the Mole Gap Trail. We continued on this until it met the North Downs Way. Here we turned right and followed the NDW back to the car park.

Notable views today included Wembley Arch, Canary Wharf and the Shard.
