Twenty-two people turned up for today’s five mile walk. All were hopeful that rain, forecast to arrive about noon, would be late. Unfortunately, it arrived early, about fifteen minutes after we set off. Dry clay on footpaths soon became slippery mud.
The route was east from the car park by the village hall, over the A281, to Ryestreet Common, Prestwick Copse, Botany Bay, Peartree Piece, past Pickhurst and back to cross the A281 again. After the rain started I doubt many, if any apart from the leader, paid attention to the route.
