Tilford circular

There was a good turn-out for this morning’s 5½ mile walk even though the weather was uninviting. Nineteen arrived for the start from the car park by Tilford green. We crossed the bridge and headed north on the byway that led to the B3001. Here we turned right, walked uphill a short distance, turned left on a bridleway, crossed a minor road and took a footpath that went up steps to the view point on the top of Crooksbury Hill. This was our stop for coffee.

We sat on the benches looking at distant hills disappear in approaching rain. Fortunately, most of the rain missed us. All we noticed was light drizzle. We set off down the other side of the hill, turned right on Smugglers Way, then turned left on Crooksbury Lane and then right on the bridleway that led across Crooksbury Common to the B3001 by The Donkey. Having crossed the road we followed the byway to Whitmead Lane, turned right and took a footpath on the left. This led to Tilford where we turned left on the main road and walked back to the car park.
