Christmas walk 2

Thirty arrived for this morning’s 4½ mile walk. The distance was shorter than usual to give us time for a big lunch at the end.

We met in Bramley by the old railway station, walked south through the town, joined a bridleway that went past Hurst Hill Farm, headed east on a footpath to the Greensand Way and continued on this to Long Common. Here we turned left, walked along the minor road, turned left on a bridleway, reached the Wey South Path and followed this back to Bramley.

Twenty-three stayed for lunch in the café. Serving us must have been a waitress’s nightmare. The room was noisy (our chat), some couldn’t remember what they’d ordered (a week earlier) and most paid little attention to the appearance of the waitress with the plates of food. Fortunately, the leader had a list with the names and orders so there were no disputes and we were soon served.
