We met at the car park in Normandy by the junction of Hunts Hill Road and the A323. Sixteen arrived for the eight mile walk. One person brought her eleven year old grandson who, despite reservations, had no trouble completing the distance.
The mud the leader told us to expect was not as deep as feared. However, part of a footpath was flooded and the water was deep enough to come over the top of one of her boots. The rest of us spotted the disappearance of her foot and immediately took a detour.
