Blackheath circular

Sixteen arrived for the ten mile walk in spite of the weather forecast. Heavy rain was expected in the afternoon. There was rain but, fortunately, that which fell on us was light.

We walked on bridleways to Farley Green, took a footpath by the east side of Ride Lane and arrived at the Greensand Way. Here we turned west, branched off the GSW near Willinghurst Farm and headed south to Willinghurst Lakes. We stopped for lunch at the café. One had a full English breakfast; the rest had omelettes and large portions of chips.

After lunch we headed back uphill to rejoin the GSW and continued on it to Shamley Green. Paths were wetter; we splashed through mud. From Shamley Green we made our way back to Blackheath and filled up with tea and cakes at the leader’s house.
