Sun hats, sunglasses and sun screen were the order of the day. It was hot and getting hotter. A few of those who wore boots on the 5½ mile walk did so because they were concerned about mud. There was none; paths were bone dry.
Twenty-one arrived at the start in the car park by Silent Pool on the A25. The leader took us west on the Pilgtim’s Way to St Martha’s Hill. We joined the Downs Link, headed south, crossed the A25, took a footpath to Postford Farm Cottages, turned north by Blackheath Lane, continued to Albury and returned to the car park by the A248.
