Chiddingfold

Last time I walked in this area it was wet and muddy and I was bitten by a horsefly. Conditions for this morning’s 5½ mile walk were quite different. It was warm and sunny, mud had dried and horseflies had yet to appear.

Twenty-three arrived for the start by the village green in Chiddingfold. We headed east past the post office, turned left on a footpath, turned east on a footpath to Ryestreet Common, walked NE along Vann Lane to a bridleway on the right that took us to White Beech, crossed a minor road and continued on a bridleway to Dunsfold church where we stopped for coffee.

From the church we took a footpath past The Holy Well, crossed a bridge, turned right on a bridleway that led to Wetwood, turned right at Chiddingfold Road, turned left on a footpath through woodland to a road, High Street, turned left on the road, continued on this to a footpath on the right in Highstreet Green and followed this back to Chiddingfold.

After the walk ten stopped for lunch in Treacle’s Tea Shop by the green. Next week some of us will be on a trip to Highgrove.
