Westcott walk

There was squelching on this morning’s six mile walk—a sound not heard on our walks for weeks. Some paths were so muddy that progress was slow as people tried to find firmer ground. Some succeeded, some gave up and waded through.

We met at the Milton Heath car park off the A25 near Dorking. The leader took us over the A25 and then along a bridleway to Milton Heath and Miltonheath Farm. We continued west, came to Balchins Lane and reached the A25 again. On the way we passed a house with a blue plaque commemorating the actor Leslie Howard. Having crossed the A25 again we headed south on a bridleway and gradually worked our way back to Westcott via Logmore Green, Chadhurst Farm and Osler Plantation.
