Walking Matters

Godalming & Haslemere Ramblers

Rowlands Castle circular

This ten mile walk was repeated from two weeks ago. The weather was better today—it was less hot.

Twenty arrived at the start at Rowlands Castle train station. We headed east through Stansted Park and stopped at the tea room by Stansted House. One person, new to the group, thought this was wonderful; she was used to sitting on wet grass for coffee. So are we; this stop for us was unusual.

We set off again and continued to Emsworth on the Sussex Border Path. After lunch we headed west on the Wayfarer’s Way. We turned north from it earlier than intended because, owing to a high tide, the section along the shore after Warblington was under water. By the time we reached Havant train station for the journey home, several were in need of ice creams.
