Forty-one arrived for today’s 7½ mile walk, somewhat to the concern of the leader who would have been content with fewer. However, all went well. Three people counted us out from the car park by the sports ground near Albury Heath and all reached the same number. The pub in Peaslake where we stopped for lunch served good food remarkably quickly. No one went missing and conditions were ideal—paths remained dry and the sun shone all day.
We set off NW across Albury Warren, turned south to pass Ford Farm, turned west to join the continuation of Blackheath Lane, headed south to Blackheath Forest, turned SE to Farley Green and stopped on the green for refreshment (an essential part of our walks).
From Farley Green we headed east to Peaslake via a footpath parallel to Ride Lane, Shophouse Farm, Dick’s Hill, Knowle Farm, Hound House and a bridleway to Lawbrook Lane. After lunch we headed north along a lane and across a field to Jesses Lane, took a bridleway west to Lawbrook Lane and Hound House Road. Here we turned right and then turned west on a footpath over a field to Ponds Lane. We passed under the railway line and branched left on a footpath over Albury Heath and retuned to our cars.
It was a lovely walk.
