Frensham circular

The leader, nine hardy walkers and one wimp (me) turned up for this morning’s 5½ mile walk. The wimp was curious to see who were the hardy ones. Storm Angus, which arrived yesterday, left roads flooded and a tree down near Hindhead but by the time the walkers gathered for the start the wind and rain had ceased. The mud the leader told us to expect was not as bad as she feared; the conditions were better than we imagined.

We met at Frensham Great Pond car park, headed south on a bridleway that took us past Frensham Manor, crossed a swollen River Wey, continued west on another bridleway towards Jeffrey’s Copse and stopped for coffee by Bealeswood Common near Dockenfield.

Setting off again we passed the pub, turned east on a footpath to Spreakley, crossed a minor road, continued ahead to a footpath on the left towards Shortfield Common, walked a short distance on a road to a footpath on the right, headed east on this, turned right at a crosspath and continued over fields, the River Wey and a road by a church back to Frensham and the car park.
