Tilford circular

The leaders of this morning’s five mile walk were slightly daunted by the large turnout. Thirty-two turned up but all went well. There were no accidents, no one went missing and the water-logged paths they’d encountered two days ago were less wet. There was one minor disappointment; there were no pigs to be seen at Meadow End Farm near Tilford Common. Months ago when we walked past the farm, piglets came running up to greet us.

From Tilford village green we crossed the bridge and headed north on the Greensand Way, turned left at a fork to Sheephatch Lane, turned left to cross Tilfordmill Bridge, crossed over Tilford Road, continued ahead on a bridleway to Tilford Reeds and Pierrepont Farm, crossed the River Wey (South Branch), walked on trails by Frensham Little Pond, headed NE on a byway towards Tilford Common and then branched left on a footpath that passed Meadow End Farm and ended at Tilford Road near the village hall.

After the walk seventeen stayed for refreshment in the pub.
