Walking Matters

Godalming & Haslemere Ramblers

Busbridge southwards

There were 37 on the 8½ mile walk today. The leader, middle and back markers kept them together so none went astray. It was a cold overcast day. Black clouds arrived early afternoon and worried those who noticed but, fortunately, there was no rain. The leader changed the route to avoid a water-logged bridleway (it had turned into a swamp) so, once again, we encountered remarkably little mud.

We set off from Holloway Hill recreation ground and headed SW on footpaths to Tuesley, walked through Tuesley Farm, passed West Surrey Golf Club, crossed Hambledon Road, continued east to Hydon Heath, turned south to Hydon’s Ball, Fourteen Acre Copse, Hambledon church and stopped at The Merry Harriers for lunch.

The return route was via Buss’s Common, West Surrey Golf Club, Tuesley Farm and the footpaths we’d used earlier. After the walk the leader treated us to mince pies and mulled wine in his home.
