The leader of this morning’s six mile walk chose a varied route for us. We walked across fields, through woods and alongside a canal. Mud was to be expected this time of year, she told us, but, she added, only one path had a section that was seriously muddy. (There was less mud on her seriously muddy section than on some paths we used yesterday.)
It was a cold day made colder by a wind. Thirty-three arrived for the start opposite The Whithies in Compton. We headed north on Polsted Lane, turned east on the North Downs Way, continued on this to the canal where we stopped for coffee, followed the Wey South Path to St Catherine’s Lock, turned west, walked through the Park & Ride car park (to use the PCs), crossed the A3100, walked past Mount Browne the police HQ, turned south on Stakescorner Road, took a footpath across Loseley Park, crossed the A3000, headed SW on a footpath to Binscombe, turned NW on a path that took us past The Grange, reached a lane, turned left, crossed the A3000 again and continued north on the road that led to our start point by the pub.
After the walk seven people stopped for lunch in Huckleberry Bistro in Farncombe.
