Walking Matters

Godalming & Haslemere Ramblers

Godalming, Munstead & Catteshall

There were two surprises on this morning’s five mile walk—the large turnout (23) given the weather (cold, grey, damp) and the lack of serious mud. One section of the route is usually a quagmire in winter but not today. We marched along at the edges with little difficulty.

We met in the centre of Godalming in Crown Court car park, headed south for Holloway Hill recreation ground, walked across this on our way towards Busbridge church, continued east to the water tower on Munstead Heath Road, crossed the road to a not-so-muddy-today bridleway, turned north on a bridleway that went past Barrett’s Rough and Springfield Farm, turned NE in Catteshall, joined the Fox Way and followed this back into Godalming.

After the walk thirteen stayed for drinks and some had lunch in Wetherspoons.
