Eashing & Charterhouse

A section of the route of today’s five mile walk went through the grounds of Charterhouse. Our leader, a past member of staff, obtained permission for us to walk through. Thirty-one turned up for the walk which started from The Rickyard off Eashing Lane. Those familiar with the area were pleased to note that there was now a pavement along Eashing Lane between the entrance to The Rickyard and Halfway Lane.

We walked along Halfway Lane, continued NE through Westbrook, took a footpath on the north side of the River Wey to Peperharrow Road and entered the grounds of Charterhouse School. There were few people about as it was half-term. We stopped inside the South African Cloister for a short break. When we emerged there was sunshine, a welcome change in the weather.

Leaving the grounds on the NW side we headed west on a footpath, turned south, continued to Lower Eashing, joined the Fox Way and followed this back to the start.
