The views were superb on this morning’s 5½ mile walk. It was a clear, bright, sunny day—quite a contrast to the last time we were here. Then there was fog which reduced visibility to about 100 metres.
Nineteen turned up for the start in the car park by the recreation ground off Scotland Lane. It was colder than we expected but by the time we’d walked south to Valewood Park and up a short steep slope and were back in sunshine, we’d warmed up enough to start shedding layers. We headed up Blackdown on the Sussex Border Path and the Serpent Trail and stopped for coffee at the Temple of the Winds. From here we could see as far as the South Downs.
