Loxwood walks

Today’s walk was based on two detailed by the Wey & Arun Canal Trust—Loxwood walks 4 and 5 on the Canal Walks page. Twenty-seven arrived for the morning 4½ mile morning walk. After lunch six left and a new person joined us so there were twenty-two on the four mile walk (shortened from the WACT one).

It was a cold day, cold enough for some to wear hats and gloves. Rain was forecast but none fell. The towing path, muddy when we walked along it eleven weeks ago, was now rock hard. Giant hogweed, common in the area, thrived and was already a metre high in some places.
