Walking Matters

Godalming & Haslemere Ramblers

Witley & Hambledon

Dry paths, sunshine, shade and a gentle breeze contributed to a pleasant five mile walk this morning. One person fell over but her landing, though sudden, was soft.

Twenty-four arrived for the start in the car park near the school (closed for half term) on Church Lane in Witley. We crossed the A283, took a footpath to Great Enton, crossed Hambledon Field, headed south across Buss’s Common, turned east on a footpath to Hambledon Road by Hilltop Farm, crossed the road and took the lane to the church where we stopped for coffee.

We headed back on the Greensand Way, turned right on a footpath just before the A283, walked along the grass verge by the main road, turned right by the railway bridge on a footpath that reached the lane by Sweetwater Pond, turned right and then took the next footpath on the left. This took us under the railway line and back to Witley. Some stopped at the White Hart for refreshment, others went to Squires Garden Centre for lunch.
